Creating a custom jersey design is a rewarding and exciting experience. Depending on the level of customization desired, custom jerseys can provide a unique look that cannot be achieved with a standard off-the-rack jersey.
Custom jerseys often feature unique designs, colours, and logos that are tailored to your specific tastes.
In this blog, we will discuss how to design and make a good custom jersey. We'll go into the basics of custom jersey design, including how to make a jersey mockup of your own.

What is a custom jersey?
A custom jersey is a personalized jersey designed to reflect you and your team’s individual style. Custom jersey designs can also be used to make a statement, create team unity, show support for a team or individual, and even promote a business.
How Do You Make a Custom Jersey Design?
The first step to designing a good custom jersey is to create a concept or design. This can be done in a variety of ways, including by drawing a design yourself or working with a professional designer. Once you have an idea for your designs, you can use those as a reference when creating your custom jersey.
When designing a custom jersey, consider the colours, logos, and any other elements that will be used. It is important to keep in mind that your design should be unique. Additionally, be sure to consider the size, shape, and material of the jersey, as these all influence the overall look and feel of the jersey.
If your team has a specific colour scheme or logo, make sure your design incorporates these.
Can I Make My Own Design?
Absolutely! If you'd like to make your own concept, start by taking a look at existing jerseys for inspiration. Our Design Gallery has plenty of options, or you can look through our sport galleries to pick a specific style for your team.
Consider the different colours, logos, and designs that you like and think about how to incorporate these into your own design.
When creating a concept, think about what your goal is. Are you trying to make a bold statement or just a subtle change? Consider the colours, logos, and shapes that you have chosen and how all of those elements will work together. Creating a custom design of your own with a blank template will allow you to see how your jerseys will look when they are complete.
Designing a Jersey in Photoshop
Designing a jersey in Adobe Photoshop is a great way to create a custom design. If you are not familiar with Photoshop, start by downloading the program and getting familiar with the various tools and features. This will help you to create a design that is professional, cohesive, and unique.

Begin by either choosing a template or creating a blank canvas. Consider the colours, logos, and shapes that you have chosen for your concept and use Photoshop to create the design. You can add text and other graphics, then use the paint bucket, brush, or pen tools to colour your design. Photoshop also allows you to place graphics in the right size on your mockup.
Once you are happy with your design, you can save it as a JPEG, PNG or PSD file and send it in to be printed!

How Do You Make a Good Jersey?
Once you have designed a custom jersey, the next step is to make it. Custom jerseys are usually made from either sublimation or heat transferred fabric. Sublimation involves using a heat press to transfer a design onto fabric, which is then cut, sewn, and finished by hand. With heat transfer, a design is printed onto a special transfer paper and then pressed onto the fabric.
At TeamGear Canada, we use full sublimation printing, as it's a far superior method for creating custom jerseys. Vinyl and silk screen heat transferred designs are prone to cracking and peeling, while full sublimation like ours is built to last.
Are Custom Jerseys Stitched?
Yes, custom jerseys are usually stitched by hand or machine to ensure that they last and look professional. Professional stitchers also use special techniques to ensure that the design on the jersey stands out and looks great.
All of our products are custom made, cut, and sewn right here in Canada!
How Do I Look Good in My Custom Jersey Design?
When choosing a sports jersey, the most important thing is to choose a style that suits you and makes you feel comfortable and confident. Consider the occasion or event that you are attending, and pick a style that is appropriate. For example, you'll want short sleeves for summer sports, and long sleeves or a hoodie for colder weather.
Think about the look that you want and the fit that you need, and pick your perfect size based on the size charts for your custom jerseys.
Our ladies jerseys are usually a bit more fitted than regular shirts, so you may want to pick a size up, or our stretchier Premium Sport fabric. Additionally, make sure that the length is appropriate - you don't want it to be too long or too short!
If you're very short or very tall, ask us about changing the length of your jerseys.
Benefits of Custom Jersey Designs

Custom jersey designs are also a great way to make a statement and stand out from the crowd.
