Ringette is one of the few sports Canada invented outright, and the team names should sound like it.
Once the roster agrees on one, it has to survive being stitched across a set of jerseys and shouted from a cold bench in February. Build your ringette jerseys with TeamGear Canada here — made in our own factory, no minimum order.
Ringette names work differently from hockey names, because the game does. Players carry a straight stick and a rubber ring rather than a puck and a blade, nobody is allowed to carry the ring across a blue line — it has to be passed — and play restarts on a free pass rather than a faceoff. That gives the sport a vocabulary hockey does not have, and the best names use it. A name built on the ring itself lands with every parent in the stands; a recycled hockey pun does not. The list below is split three ways: puns that only work in ringette, general league-night humour, and picks that lean on the fact this is a Canadian invention played almost nowhere else.

Conclusion
A good ringette name survives a 6am practice slot. Say it out loud on a cold bench before you commit — if it is hard to shout through a neck warmer, pick another.
Once you have picked one, we will put it on a jersey. TeamGear Canada makes custom ringette jerseys in our own Canadian factory — no minimum order, free design work, names and numbers included. Start your design here.
