Custom Work Uniforms

Custom work uniforms for service teams, outdoor crews and small businesses, printed by full sublimation on performance polyester and made to order in Mississauga, Ontario. No order minimum, so a four-person crew is an ordinary order. Free initial artwork, with names and role text included at no extra charge.

The crews this suits

Work uniforms cover an enormous range, and sublimation is the right answer for a specific slice of it: crews working outdoors, in heat, or in motion, where a breathable polyester garment beats a cotton one and where the branding needs to be visible from a distance.

In practice that means landscaping and lawn care, grounds and golf course maintenance, delivery and courier crews, car detailing and mobile services, marina and dock staff, moving crews, event and venue operations, and campground and park teams. These are jobs where a cotton work shirt is soaked by ten in the morning, and where the shirt is also the company's advertising on somebody's front lawn.

If your crew works indoors in a climate-controlled office and wants an embroidered pique polo, the section at the bottom of our corporate gear page explains honestly why we are not the right shop for that. It is worth two minutes before you request a quote.

One design across a whole crew, at any size

The awkward reality of uniforming a small business is quantity. Most decorators want a dozen or more before the pricing makes sense, so a six-person crew either overbuys or waits. There is no order minimum here, which means ordering four shirts is an ordinary order rather than a favour.

That changes how uniform programmes work over time. Rather than buying a two-year supply up front and eating the sizes that never get worn, you can order for the people you employ now and add pieces as you hire. Send the same approved artwork back and the new shirts match the old ones.

It also makes role distinctions affordable. Personalization is included at no extra charge, so a crew shirt can carry a first name, and a lead's shirt can carry a role — FOREMAN, LEAD HAND, APPRENTICE — without a price difference or a separate setup. On a job site where a homeowner or a client needs to know who to talk to, that is worth more than a logo.

Designing a shirt that survives the work

A uniform is judged on how it looks in month eight, not week one. The common failure is not the fabric — it is the decoration. Vinyl and transfer logos crack across the shoulders and lift at the edges once shirts go through a hot wash a few dozen times, and screen-printed ink on a work shirt goes chalky. A sublimated print has nothing on the surface to fail; it is dyed into the fibre.

Colour choice does real work too. Mid-tones and patterns hide dust, grass stain and grease far better than a flat light colour, and because there is no per-colour charge you can use a pattern or a tonal panel across the lower body without paying for the privilege. Darker sleeve and side panels on an otherwise bright shirt is a common, practical compromise.

How to Design the Perfect Shirt for Work walks through the design decisions in more depth, including where to place a logo so it is not hidden by a harness, an apron or a hi-vis layer. If visibility is part of the job, Custom Hi Visibility Clothing is the other half of this.

Artwork, sizing and lead time

Initial artwork is free and does not require you to arrive with print-ready files. A logo, a business card photo or a description is enough for our designers to build a first concept, which comes back in three to five business days. Revisions happen before anything goes to production.

Once the design is approved, production runs about four weeks. Because garments are made to order in Mississauga rather than pulled from stock, this is a plan-ahead purchase — good for a spring season, a rebrand, or a scheduled uniform refresh, and not suitable for replacing a torn shirt before Monday.

Sizing a working crew is worth doing properly. Our size charts cover shirts, shorts and pants; circulate them and collect sizes before ordering rather than estimating, since made-to-order garments are not exchanged as easily as stock. Begin with the free design form or see Custom Business Shirts.

What is Full Sublimation printing for work uniforms?

Full sublimation for work uniforms is a printing process that uses heat and pressure to transfer dye onto a fabric. This process allows for vibrant, long-lasting colours and designs that won't crack or fade over time. With full sublimation, the entire garment can be printed, including areas that would typically be left blank such as seams, collar, and cuffs. This creates a seamless, all-over design with a greater range of colours and shades; perfect for photographic or gradient designs. Full sublimation is the highest quality printing option for custom designed clothing, gear, team uniforms, sportswear and more.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do custom work uniforms take?

It typically takes us just 4 weeks to create your custom work uniforms domestically, at our factory in Mississauga, ON.

What printing method is used?

All products at TeamGear are 100% sublimated. In full sublimation printing, all components of the configured design (colors, numbers, motifs, etc.) are transferred to the material using a special heat pressing method.
For this reason, no cotton products can be sublimated, as they would start to burn. We therefore use 100% polyester for most custom products. The material is easy-care, breathable and durable for long term wear.

What is included in the cost and price of TeamGear.ca work uniforms?

We DO NOT charge for different sizes (2XL and under) per order.
We DO NOT charge for Names & Numbers on uniforms.
We DO NOT charge for initial artwork. (Revisions may be subject to deposit, which goes in full toward your final order)

What is the minimum order quantity?

We can accommodate orders as little as 1 piece at a time! This goes for all our products and accessories. Our custom work uniforms, custom hoodies and more can all be ordered one at a time.

How does sizing work?

We have Mens (Adults), Ladies & Youth sizing available for most products.

Our sizes follow North American standards, so they are more true-to-fit. The Mens/Adult sizes are a straight body cut, while the ladies are slightly tapered at the waist to provide a trimmer fit. We recommend going with your typical size.

Our sizes can be found at teamgear.ca/pages/size-charts or you can click here

Do you need to bring a design?

Absolutely not! We have a team of custom uniform designers & custom logo designers, who are incredibly skilled at delivering your design from any example - whether it's screenshots of images, hand-drawn or just a concept.

What is the advantage of sublimation?

The sublimation process is superior to traditional printing, vinyl or flock for several reasons.
- Full design freedom without restrictions
- 100% breathable, since the product is not subsequently glued on
- 100% colour fast, even after the 100th washing cycle
- Durability, since the print does not become brittle or break

Can you colour match?

Absolutely. If you have colour codes, just let our team know ahead of time and we'll use those for your designs.
Note that the colours may appear differently on your screen than on fabric, as cellphone screens and monitors are all calibrated differently. Read more about colour matching in our blog post here.
